Eva studied Medical Sciences and Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and received her Master of Science (MSc) in 2019. After graduating, she started her PhD at the TU/e under the supervision of prof. dr. Maarten Merkx and prof. dr. ir. Jaap den Toonder. The main focus of her research was on the development of homogeneous bioluminescent protein sensors for the point-of-care detection of a variety of clinically relevant biomarkers. Several of the glow-in-the-dark biosensors that she helped develop during her PhD are now central technologies at LUMABS BV.
